Friday, April 17, 2009a very busy day....
A little calmer now....but still sending us towards the ice. We are now south of NZ but hopefully the wind change on Sun/Mon will push us back north. Managed to find time in the schedule to fit in some chartwork...we are 100 nm from the nearest point in NZ - Windsor point on the SW tip and about 111nm from the E tip of Stewart Island. It looks as though there are a few soft spots to land on but it will not be so easy. I hardly had anytime to read books at all today as there was a day long tutorial in ropework, splicing and knot tying which kept the crew engrossed. The crew should be pretty interesting company on landfall....posted by Olly Hicks @ 6:25 AM
